If you want to show any teenagers what 2001 was like, show them Josie and the Pussycats. It’ll cover it from an aesthetic point of view (low-rise jeans, crop tops) and the political concerns of No Logo era youth culture. As in, corporate co-optation of ‘authentic’ cultural production by evil record companies. Not to make a very, very silly movie with a soundtrack that slaps very, very hard sound like a drag. It’s so goofy and fun and if you mess with anyone who likes it, you’re messing with the wrong pussy.
