Ford v Ferrari is the closest most of us will come to travelling 230 miles per hour in a tin can with an engine hitting 7000 rpm. The rest is just epic storytelling: how a rivalry blows up between Ford and Ferrari to dominate the prestigious Le Mans endurance race, and how the partnership between a US car designer and a British driver epitomised the Ford side of the conflict. Painting the Americans, backed by the world’s largest car manufacturer, as the underdogs is a white-knuckle feat of steering.
