It’s a Wonderful Life never got a grip on Australia as the holiday movie supreme like it did in the US. A shame, because the story of George Bailey learning his life is worth living gives us the heartwarming sentimentality we need without making the treacle oversweet. If you do not cry at the film’s climax then you may not have a heart. Plus, the FBI thought it may be communist propaganda. Anything they don’t like is good.
