It feels weird the John Wick franchise isn’t based on a graphic novel. The intricate rules and many thought-out details of its universe seem very graphic novel-y. Very Garth Ennis or something. Anyway, everyone’s moody, inscrutable darling Keanu is the figurehead for the franchise that keeps on pushing the limits of how stylish and kinetic an action film can be. Part two was a bit of a stumble but part three elevates shooting people in the face at point-blank range into high art.
