Fashion legend Lee Alexander McQueen once said he wanted people to leave his shows feeling either “repulsed or exhilarated”. He housed runways in moth-infested cubes, sprayed models with robotic guns and scuba-dived deep into alien seascapes for inspiration. In other words, he totally redrew the boundaries between fashion and theatre, reshaping the looks on the streets in the process. This compassionate doco follows McQueen’s story, from his working-class childhood in Stratford to his ambivalent existence as an haute-couture icon and through to his tragic death.
