Hereditary was Director Ari Aster’s first feature and it generated enough ruckus to make his next film a compulsory watch if you’re into horror with a bit of art film panache. That sequel is Midsommar and it’s an ambitious swing at making a horror movie almost entirely in the blinding sunlight of rural Sweden while some freaky deaky pagan rituals are go down. Like Hereditary, it wears its Wicker Man influence on its sleeve and is, in its way, the best breakup movie since How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
