Some cracks are starting to appear in the John Hughes legacy. Sixteen Candles, for instance, will get a person feeling like the ‘80s were an alternate reality. At least as far as coercing women goes. But Pretty in Pink has still got the juice. Will Duckie or Blane get the girl? Can anyone named after a waterfowl get a girl? Could anyone named after a major appliance get a girl? Who cares about the class consciousness, we’re here for the soundtrack and Molly Ringwald’s horrendous prom dress.
