Solo came out of a problematic production history swinging. It kind of owes more to the Indiana Jones franchise than Star Wars – a rambunctious, linear adventure movie that slides piece to set-piece like a marble down a lubricated trough. Alden Ehrenreich doesn’t do an impression of Harrison Ford’s performance as Han – because who could pull that off? – but he does embody its spirit in a deft way. It’s got Chewie, Lando and a bunch of new stuff to look up on Wookieepedia and who could be mad about that?
