In other words, in Harmony Korine’s bonkers spiritual sequel to Spring Breakers, McConaughey mines his own semi-legendary offscreen persona. Cheech and Chong for the arthouse crowd? Or an incisive philosophical meditation on hedonism as an appropriate rejection of our cynical political moment? Dunno. But, for sure, the glorious sunset of the McConaughnaissance persists, aided and abetted by Snoop Dogg, Martin Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Zac Efron and yacht rock legend Jimmy Buffett.
